Update
Its the 11th of august and we have 51km to go. we hope to arrive in The Cristina Noble Childrens Hospital some time tomorrow morning. There going to get some shock when they see us. We really should have told them before this evening about our arrival. As we have reiterated before, organisation is just not really our thing.
Part 2 - The Next 2000km
Finally we have added our first video, it is the first 2000km of the cycle. We will be posting Part 2 very shortly. We hope you enjoy it.
Firstly we'd like to thank Darren Lyons and Sinead Conneely for once again donating the money they raised for Keith to CycleAsia. Thanks again Darren and Sinead.
With two great events behind us, the three of us would first of all like to thank everyone for their incredible support to date. It has exceeded our expectations ten fold. We also want to thank those who have helped us behind the scenes over the past couple of months. Rob Hurley was kind enough to spend a night busking over Christmas, raising just short of €100 for Cycle Asia. Neil McDonnell, Cian Cagney, Laura Gaffney, Aine Waters and Blaithnaid Murphy spent hours and no doubt lost friends trying to publicise our last night in Karma Nightclub.
At the moment we are racking our brains trying to find ways to raise more money for the charities, without exploiting your generosity.
On the 20th of March, we are going to be collecting on the streets of Galway city. We need as many volunteers as possible so if you think you might be able to spare an hour or so, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Raising money is all well and good, but at the end of the day, the cycle has to be done, a detail that I think the three of us forget about from time to time. Equipment has to be ordered soon and we are in the process of finding a bike capable of carrying John and Sean. On a similar note, we are trying to feed Cole up, so he wont get blown away somewhere along the Pacific Coast. We are training as much as possible, although the weather has prevented us from getting off the stationary bikes and onto the roads. Our one venture outside ended up in a puncture 1km short of Spiddal. Puncture repair kits are currently top of our travel check list.
This is pretty much where we stand at the moment. We are getting there but we have plenty to do and are relying on your support over the next few months. Due to the success of our fundraising to date, our financial goals continue to rise. Our next event is just around the corner. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Thanks again
Sean, John and Cole
Contrary to popular belief, the actions of Cian Cagney do not reflect Cycle Asia’s fundraising etiquette. However we appreciate his relentless enthusiasm.
